Day 68: Circumnavigating Kauai or The Island is Still Amazing on a Rainy Day

Wednesday was a rainy day in Kauai so we decided to make it a sightseeing day.  Kauai is a little island so it's really easy to drive around, except for a 16 mile stretch of beach called the Na Pali Coast, which is a state park.  See the map below.

We are staying on the north side of the Island in the town of Princeville
The Na Pali coast, although undrivable is hikable, however, in my current physical state a 22 mile hike is not advisable.  We are told, though, that the Na Pali coast is the most beautiful part of Kauai, naturally, and that an hour long helicopter tour is the perfect way to see it.  Jonathan is still trying to convince me that I want to spend an hour in a helicopter.

Anyway, we left Princeville at 10:30 am and started our tour of the island by car.  We made it all the way around, meaning, we drove to the end of the highway and then retraced our steps back to our house, to arrive home by 7pm.  It was a long day, but we saw some amazing sights and also got to check out a fun farmer's market where we purchased and devoured a large slice of island carrot cake with passion fruit, cream cheese frosting. Yum.

after a hurricane hit the island in 1991 and destroyed several chicken houses on the island, chickens run wild all over the place, like pidgeons in NYC, .

Look at that belly!

Oh yea, and did I mention that I also got a chocolate croissant?

You are the perfect little pregnant woman. You make it look so effortless (which, as you know, it is not!)
